POWER INN, FRUITRIDGE & SO. WATT CLOSED NEXT WEEK FOR RAILROAD MAINTENANCE
********************************************************************On Saturday 1/24 beginning 5 a.m. through Monday night, 1/26, Power Inn Road will be closed to through vehicle and foot traffic while Union Pacific Railroad (UP) performs maintenance on the tracks. The improvements are needed to improve safety for trains, vehicles and pedestrians.
Businesses can be accessed from the north or the south on Power Inn up to the railroad tracks at the "Bowtie." All northbound traffic will be detoured on Fruitridge east to Florin Perkins, then back to Power Inn at Belvedere. All southbound traffic will turn left at Belvedere and detour via Florin Perkins to Fruitridge. All traffic will be diverted to one lane at Belvedere so south-bound travelers may have a wait.
Fruitridge Road will be closed on Tuesday, 1/27 and Wednesday, 1/28 for railroad upgrades. All traffic will be detoured at the intersection of Power Inn Road. Local access will be allowed from Florin Perkins westbound to TeamPower.
Track maintenance and repair has already begun on South Watt at Folsom Blvd. All traffic on South Watt is condensed to one lane in either direction from 7pm to 5 am until Friday 1/30.
Roadwork will be performed on Elder Creek within the next two weeks. Details to follow.

All in a day's work for the Alliance Clean Up Crew as they clear tons of junk and debris like this from Power Inn area streets and fields. |

HOW MUCH JUNK CAN A JUNK PICKER PICK IF A JUNK PICKER PICKS UP JUNK? (answer below)
******************************************************************** They're our most visible and popular employees - Abel and Omar, who are seen four days every week in their bright blue pickup as they prowl the streets and cul de sacs of the Power Inn area clearing trash and debris. "And they do a phenominal job," said Mike Lien of L and D Landfill. "People dump illegally here all the time, and before this program started stuff would sit and rot alongside the roadways for days or weeks. Now it's gone overnight."
The Clean Up Crew is part of the Alliance's Property-based Business Improvement District program to reduce trash, remove nonconforming signs and mitigate weeds throughout the area. The Alliance spends almost $80,000 a year with Green Vista Landscape to keep the area looking clean and neat. Among the debris picked up last year alone, were:
* 63 pieces of furniture and 31 sofas
* 202 tires
* 3.5 tons of dirt
* 42 mattresses and box springs
* 46 pallets
* 23 appliances and TVs
* 72 shopping carts which were returned
Working with Program Manager Dawn Carlson, Abel and Omar have also traced illegally dumped refuse to its source. One clue they discovered was a 1975 IRS return in a pile of litter. The taxpayer was called and told to clean it up or face a fine from Code Enforcement and the debris was gone the next day. Members who notice trash or illegal dumping are urged to contact Dawn immediately at the Alliance, 453-8888.
